How to Create a Multiple-Pet Portrait from Separate Photos

You can create a multiple-pet portrait from separate photos in Bondel Studio. Your pets do not need to sit together for the same photograph. Choose a clear reference for each pet, then check their relative size, placement and distinctive features in the combined preview.

Separate references can be useful when one pet looks away in a group photo, when pets will not sit still together, or when you want to include a pet from an older photograph. The goal is a composition that feels like your pets belong together while keeping each one recognizable.

Choose references that work together

Start with photos that show faces from similar angles. Two eye-level portraits are easier to compare than one overhead snapshot and one low-angle close-up. Their backgrounds do not need to match, but the visible features should be clear.

  • Use a distinct reference for each pet. Make sure you can identify which photo belongs to which animal.
  • Keep important features visible. Avoid ears hidden behind furniture or a face covered by another pet.
  • Check the light. Very dark fur in shadow or bright white fur in direct sunlight can hide details.
  • Think about the final pose. A reference that shows only a head cannot reliably supply unseen paws or a tail.

Our pet portrait photo guide gives a fuller checklist for choosing each reference.

Build and review your Studio preview

  1. Open Bondel Studio and choose the multiple-pet option.
  2. Add the photos in the upload spaces. Review the thumbnails so you know the intended references are included.
  3. Choose an available style and generate a preview.
  4. Compare each pet with its own reference before judging the group as a whole.
  5. Check the composition for the canvas size you intend to order.

Check the current Studio interface for the number of pets supported in your selection. Do not assume that a group photograph and several separate photographs will produce identical arrangements.

Explain size and placement clearly

Separate photos do not always reveal true relative size. A small dog photographed close to the camera may fill more of the frame than a large dog photographed farther away. If the preview gets this wrong, a precise instruction helps: “Keep Luna on the left and Milo on the right. Luna is the larger dog; Milo's head should sit below her shoulder.”

That example is an instruction format, not a promise of a particular result. Describe the relationship that matters and review the revised artwork. Avoid vague requests such as “make them more realistic” when the actual problem is one pet's size or position.

Check every face, paw and tail

Look for duplicated markings, merged outlines, extra limbs or a tail that appears to belong to the wrong pet. In a painted style, overlapping fur can disguise these problems. Check the boundary between animals as carefully as their faces.

If a tail is missing from the reference, consider a tighter composition that leaves it outside the portrait. Stretching the entire picture to fit a different canvas shape changes the animals' proportions. See our canvas size and ratio guide before deciding on the crop.

Request changes before ordering the final version

If you want an artist to adjust the preview, include an Artist Refinement Request when you submit the order. Name each pet and list the changes separately. For example: “Luna: preserve the white chest patch. Milo: make the left ear fold match the reference.”

Read how artist refinement and the Studio refund guarantee work before checkout. Orders without that original request follow a different refund route. When your references are ready, create your multiple-pet preview.
